We are a family-owned company with three generations of appliance know-how. We have dedicated ourselves to knowing our products and all of their applications to better serve our customers. Maruszczak Appliance offers something that the box stores cannot: personalized service. Our customers are our priority. Our service trucks are on the road six days a week to remedy any issue that may come up as soon as possible. Our customers appreciate the service and security that comes with knowing that they won't be left to fend for themselves should a problem arise!

Maruszczak Appliance Repair originated in North Hammond in the early 1950's. Nick Maruszczak, who is the father of store owner Doug Maruszczak Sr., worked hard to support his large family. Nick worked at Lever Brothers in Whiting, but needed a source of extra income, so he started working with washers and dryers. Before long, he developed a knack for repairing appliances and began to service them locally out of his garage. It didn't take long for word to get around in the close-knit blue collar community of North Hammond, so Nick began doing some in-house repair work. Maruszczak Appliance Repair was born!

Nick continued to repair appliances, inspiring one of his sons to take to the trade. Doug Maruszczak Sr. began working on appliances at a young age alongside his father. After gaining years of experience with appliances and a tour in the United States Air Force in the early 1970's, he started running his own service business out of his Roberstdale home. With hard, honest work, and service that Doug provided, his customers began to catch the attention from the community. From there, customers started asking Doug about selling appliances. In 1987, Doug and his wife Pam decided to look for a small store to start selling appliances. After searching the area, the couple found a small storefront on Calumet Avenue in Munster. The couple never imagined that this location would create a business that would stay and grow in that building for over 20 years!

Over the first 10 years, the modest 5,000 square feet business expanded to almost 20,000 square feet! By 2006, Maruszczak Appliance had long outgrown the Munster store and the search began for a new location again. That location was finally found in Schererville on Route 30 and the decision was made between Doug, Pam and son, Doug Jr., to move forward with the construction of a brand new building. In May of 2008, Maruszczak Appliance in Munster closed its doors for the last time and began preparing for a new era. The Maruszczaks are very proud of the new building and continue offering the same old-fashioned personalized service and attention that made the company what it is today! Nick Maruszczak passed in February of 2017 and will be truly missed.
